Dandapani explains why most people live chaotic lives is because the manifestation of our our lives are the results of where our energies are flowing. And most people’s energies are unfocussed and distracted. To be successful in creating the life we want Dandapani talks about the importance of understanding the mind, using awareness, which involves concentration. With these abilities in order we can then focus and direct our precious energies towards the things want to work towards in our lives. But because we live in a culture that trains us to be distracted, we need to know how to concentrate, which involves diligent practice.
The best way to develop concentration is by developing the willpower to focus on one thing at a time. This is done by meditation and also by practicing this willpower training in our everyday lives. When we can concentrate more effectively we can persistently focus our energies towards things we want to attain in our lives.
This is what we do in our Taiji training whether we realise it or not. We focus on one movement or series of movements at a time, we move deliberately with intention, according to the principles, not only developing a light awareness of the movements/tensions/relaxation in our body but also to keep bringing our awareness back into the process of our Taiji movement. And so work at strengthening our willpower to concentrate and focus with a relaxed awareness in a way that gives us a sense of energetic wellbeing. And we make this mind-body, energy cultivation appointment with ourselves everyday. With this aspect of our lives under better control we have the choice to more wisely focus our energies in the directions we choose.
