In 2012 when I heard about the Higgs-Boson particle reportedly discovered as a result of scientific experiments from the Large Hadron Collider on the Swiss-French border, I believed it to be an description of "Chi". The way they described it matched uncannily with the way "Chi" is described (when we are lucky enough to get a description). "Dark matter could be everywhere, binding the universe together like some sort of invisible connective tissue." Why is so significant? Because it is the "life force" or "natural energy" underlying what we do in the internal martial arts, chinese medicine, Daoism, Ying/Yang philosophy, etc. Now quantum physics perhaps is acknowledging "Chi" in its theories of dark matter/energy, that is- the underlying force that controls all matter. The similarities of dark matter/energy and "Chi" are: that they both - permeate the universe (70-83% of all the universe apparently), is a particle thought to give all other its mass, can't be seen but their effects (gravity) can be seen, is the force that holds galaxies together/giving the universe its structure. A parallel explanation of "Chi" from Waysun Liao describes it as the third element/force that is responsible for balancing the ying-yang energies. It is exciting that quantum physics may be bridging the knowledge gap between science and the fundamental ideas behind the Internal arts, Daoism, I-Ching, Ying-Yang, Chinese Medicine, Yoga etc, instead of being dismissed because it has up till now been unable to be measured.
